The Royal Palm - a great luxury hotel in Mauritius

ROYAL PALM - Mauritius, Indian Ocean

No way will you want to leave the grounds of the Royal Palm hotel in Mauritius. Within a few steps of the chic rooms there is a white sandy beach, a translucent turquoise lagoon, an elegant spa, fine restaurants, swimming pool, panoramic seascapes, and lush gardens filled with stately palms and incumbent colourful birds – the red whiskered bulbul, the red-orange Mauritius Fody and the weaver.

Best sushi restaurant in Mauritius

Overlooking the lagoon, right on the beachfront, the contemporary and romantic Natureaty restaurant menu is based on a nutritional Mediterranean diet with subtle Asian flavours: start with sushi, it’s the best ever. Finish with citronella, a lemon-grass infusion and a great sleeping aid. Or sip champagne until the early hours on the candle lit piano bar terrrace.

Haute cuisine inspired by award winning chef

Superlative meals consistently emerge from the kitchens of award-winning French Executive Chef Michel De Matteis: from simple but delicious palm heart salads to exquisite to-die-for tasting menus of seven courses.  Top quality meat from Australia is melt-in-your-mouth standard; the cheese board would be hard to match even in France; and a variety of bread is made on-site three times a day: all served in an exotic unrivalled setting.

The terrace of Le Bar Plage in the shade of the magnificent Badamier tree is a great lunch setting: the restaurant overlooks the turquoise lagoon.  Fine dining by candlelight in the elegant La Goélette restaurant overlooking the bay is amazing: choose from European, Chinese, Indian and Creole cuisine.  Savour dishes such as duck foie gras with crispy ginger bread, green pineapple carpaccio, mango and Arabica coffee sorbet with toasted black bread; or maybe poached lobster medallion with tartare of palm hearts and crispy vegetables.

Pampering perfected in the elegant spa

The setting is serene, lush and relaxing. There's a wide sun deck around the pool, cascading water and tropical planting. At dusk the subtle lighting in the spa complex makes for a stunning sanctuary. Perfection!

This is a classy, get-away-from-it-all, peaceful luxury spa hotel in Mauritius. A hotel great for gourmands.
